I saw you at JazzFest this year for the first time...with the Headhunters at Howlin' Wolf and was so impressed. Then went to see you at Jazz Tent.
I also saw this badass trumpet player...young guy , and I discovered he was your nephew, that you taught...Christian Scott. You should be very proud. Amazing sound. Thanks for all the music.
PS My 17 y.o. son came to JazzFest for the first time and came right off the plane and straight to Injuns a Comin'. What a spectacle of sight and sound. Again, thank you so much. Killa!

Dear Mr. Harrison,
Just wanted to let you know that your saxophone solo on Larry Coryell's "Bloco Loco" (Live from Bahia, 1990) may be one of the most beautiful sounds ever to come out of an alto sax. You're playing at the same level as my all time favorite sax player, Cannonball Adderley.
Stunning musicianship! I have no idea how you did it, but that solo is pure musical heaven. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.

Mr. Harrison,
My mother, Carolyn Pool, sat next to you on your return trip home this past Sunday the 6th. She called me late N.O. time to tell me of her trip and what a nice time she had visiting with you during the flight. Thanks for making my mother's trip have a delightful beginning, and please add me to your contacts so the next time you are in L.A. I can hear you play and buy you a drink!

Trying to lace together the soul and sounds playing behind thoughts inspired by Larry Blumenfeld's "Won't Blow Down" Village Voice piece.
Listening here from Sydney, Australia where I live to hear America's Blues...and my blues too. Thinking back fifty-three years when as a young wonnabe jazz musician (tenor player at the time) , I visited a San Francisco Jazz club featuring the Al Belletto Sextet. Al Belletto alto saxohonist and native of New Orleans - recently picked by Stan Kenton as a raising star in Jazz bought his Sextet out to the coast on tour. Now, fifty-three years later and post Katrina, Al is in Dallas, Texas living with his son and trying put life together.
And, I am trying to bring meaning to "Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans" with an profile article about what has happened to Al Belletto for All-About-Jazz.

ALESSANDRO MAUGERI TRIBUTO A JULA DE PALMA

We are about the same age. I just wanted to send a positive shout out about all the great music you have done. I, play alto and soprano and flute as well. Lv in NYC( sbronx) and do enjoy this site. And yeah, I do want to pick up Chris Scott ,s new cd, it. I bet you he is better than Hargrove. The Chief outfit is great. You know Duck , I worked for FEMA during 9/11, I met some highly conservative people in my 2 yrs there, and I wonder what type of job the agency is doing after the Hurricane. I hear and read of some very negative goings down there in YOUR hometown( yes, because mine is CLEVELAND,OH, THE MISTAKE ON THE LAKE) home of Albert and Don Ayler and Joe Lovano, (even though Joe is from the suburbs) and I noticed you made a return back to N.O. Well, I hope you and your family, are faring well, or faring at all. In any event, I may pick up Blanchards new cd, but it is such a negative legacy to be left with. New Orleans has many scars it is history. And although, I have never visted there, I am sure I would be impressed with the people and the culture.
